The Camanachd Association Board of Directors wish to co-opt an additional Director to join the Board for a maximum three-year term and lead the development and implementation of the Camanachd Association’s IT Strategy.
The successful individual will gain expertise of supporting and advising a small but dynamic Board. As a Board member, they will help to shape the future of the Camanachd Association the organisation’s key role in administration, promotion and development of shinty in Scotland. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for sport and presents great potential for the development of new/existing skills, meeting new people and new networks and making a genuine difference to the sport.
There are currently six Board Meetings each year on Wednesday evenings, two by teleconference and the rest in Fort William. The appointed individual will also be expected to participate in relevant Sub-committees/Working Groups, plus one or two annual Area Consultation Meetings. Finally, the Camanachd Association Annual General Meeting is held in Fort William on the last Friday in November and also coincides with the final Board meeting of the year. In total, it is estimated that the role will require a time commitment in the region of 80 hours each year.
The post is non-remunerated although travel and relevant expenses will be reimbursed according to the Camanachd Association’s policies and procedures
The individual will be a full Director of the Company and a member of the Board of Directors, responsible to the Chairman of the Board. The individual will be supported by the paid staff of the Association, plus additional volunteers.
– Provide a strategic lead on the development and implementation of the Camanachd Association IT Strategy.
– Attend Board Meeting and report on progress regarding the development and implementation of the Camanachd Association IT strategy.
– Chair relevant Sub-committees/Working Groups.
– Provide support and advice to staff on specific IT issues.
Key Skills & Requirements:
– Experience of the development and implementation of IT strategies
– Experience in a senior management/leadership role.
– An understanding of the role of Governing Bodies of sport and the key IT challenges in this sector.
– An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills.
Terms & Conditions:
The successful individual will be co-opted as Director of the Camanachd Association and a member of the Board of Directors for a maximum three-year term. The Camanachd Association is a not for profit company limited by guarantee (Company Number: SC284954). The company is owned by its member Clubs and Associations. The Co-opted Director role carries the liability of being a Company Director.
