Glasgow University Women’s Volleyball Club (GUWVC) are seeking applicants for the role of Head Coach. With teams in the Scottish 1A Division (having won it in 2015-16) and competing in the Scottish 2A Division, GUWVC is a growing and successful club catering for players of all abilities with the introduction of a recreational team in this past year.

Our two teams compete mostly on Sundays in the British Universities & College Sports (BUCS) league and will also take part in the Scottish Student Sport (SSS) Cup and the BUCS Trophy Cup.

The Head Coach will take the leading role in the organisation and carrying out of training sessions, playing a key role in helping each player to progress and enhance their skills throughout the year. Due to the expansion of GUWVC this would include coaching the Recreational Team which will be ran throughout the year. The Head Coach will also liaise with both the Club Captain and the Team Captains in forming the teams for the upcoming season at the try outs to be held in September.

The Head Coach will put forward a team for matches for both the First and Second Team and will have the opportunity to work with both teams on match days throughout the year. Where there is a clash in matches, a person from within the club will be elected as an Assistant Coach to attend the other match. Through all this the Head Coach will work closely with and be entirely supported by the Club and Team Captains.

The ideal candidate will have a friendly and approachable attitude with the motivation to drive the club forward. A sound knowledge of volleyball is essential, as well as the ability to easily communicate coaching ideas. Preference will be given to those with previous coaching experience/coaching qualifications. It is essential that the candidate is able to commit to attend matches on Sundays in addition to the weekly training sessions.
