JUNIOR ACADEMY MANAGER

Job Title: Junior Academy Manager

Reports to: Academy Manager

Main Area of Responsibility

The appointed person will be involved in the operation of the academy, predominantly assisting the Academy Manager to oversee the Junior Academy programme. He/she will work closely with the academy’s academic partners, constituent bodies and clubs to promote and ensure the quality of the DPP and EPDG programmes in the Leicester Tigers Region.

Key tasks:

• To lead the development and delivery of the 13-16 Academy to include DPP, EPDG and TDG programmes. To be responsible for the nomination and selection processes, coaching, strength and conditioning, education, medical, nutrition and feedback elements.

• To assist the Academy Manager in the selection of players suitable for the 16-18 Academy Programme.

• To develop a network of positive relationships with feeder clubs, schools and partner coaches to ensure accurate identification of potential players.

• To design and co-ordinate a coaching development programme for pathway and partner coaches.

• To be a key deliverer on the Good to Great and / or AASE programmes.

• To carry out any other duties and tasks required by management, which are within the post-holder’s capabilities.

• To assist in Tigers vision to make Leicester Tigers the best rugby club in the world.

Key Skills:-

Excellent communication skills
Excellent knowledge of age grade development programmes and competitions including AASE, CB and EDPG
Proven ability to identify talented players, potential talent and athletic potential
Experienced coach with a good knowledge of up to date coaching philosophies
Be self-motivated and able to manage a large workload in a pressurised environment
Engaging with players, teachers, coaches and parents
Strong administration and organisation skills
Ability to manage a budget
Strong presentation skills
Excellent I.T. skills
Flexibility to work long and unsociable hours including travel
Have a clean driving license and enhanced DBS check
